One Exotic Evening pairs food and fashion with deliciously stylish results.

New Delhi garment designer Payal Singhal, Indian-born Chicago jewelry designer Cheena Chandra and Brazilian handbag designer Diego Rocha–who is based in Chicago–will showcase their designs as Vermilion executive chef Maneet Chauhan prepares a fusion of Indian and Latin tapas. A signature drink–an herb and spice cocktail–also will be available.

The event starts at 7 p.m. July 16 at Vermilion restaurant, 10 W. Hubbard St. Reservations are required. Tickets are $30 and available by calling 312-527-4060.

The event is part of Silk Road Chicago Summer, which is a celebration of multicultural Chicago and also includes concerts, dance performances, exhibitions, cooking classes and tours. For more information, visit 877chicago.com or call 877-CHICAGO.

A good `Wrap’

When Chicagoan Shawna Brown read a Tribune article about Dress for Success three years ago, she was surprised to learn the non-profit organization that helps economically disadvantaged women prepare for the working world did not have a Chicago office.

Brown decided to do something about that in October 2003, and since then, her office has helped more than 400 area women. Now the Chicago office is joining forces with the Young Executives for Success (YES) and Bloomingdale’s to host the “It’s a Wrap” event.

Diane von Furstenberg’s Working Girl collection will showcase fall fashions while benefiting the Chicago branch of Dress for Success from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Kavi Gupta Gallery, 835 W. Washington Blvd. Attendees may also sample the signature drink of the night–the Yestini (made with Yes Vodka, which is distributed by J&S Imports in Schaumburg).

The first 75 people to RSVP will receive a gift bag with goods and coupons from Lancome, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon and Spa, Bloomingdale’s, von Furstenberg (tank tops), Ethel’s Chocolate Lounge, Lush and more.

Tickets are $40 for YES members and $60 for non-members and are available by calling 773-221-1791 or e-mailing [email protected]. For more information, see yes-chicago.org.
