The Naperville City Council this week approved plans for a 500-unit self-storage facility on the city’s north side.
Extra Space Storage LLC was granted a conditional-use permit to subdivide a 4-acre site at 1432 W. Ogden Ave. into three lots for the three-story storage facility. The developer redesigned the building with brick pattern precast concrete.
The site currently has a 14-building storage facility, which will be razed, and a cellular tower. In other business Tuesday, the City Council voted 5-3 to approve an engineering contract for $1.07 million with the Chicago firm Loebl, Schlossman & Hackl for the schematic design of the Nichols Library parking structure and library expansion. The council has not approved the expansion itself. The library is expected to kick in $60,000 for the plans. The parking structure is expected to house 325 spaces, an increase of 195 spaces.
