At the very bottom of St. Joseph-Ogden’s victory pile was one Morgan Finn, the pitcher who had missed her junior season after knee surgery.

“This is the most incredible feeling I’ve ever had in any sport,” Finn said after firing a five-hitter Saturday night in leading the Spartans to their first state title with a 1-0 victory over Casey-Westfield in the Class A softball finale at the EastSide Centre.

“It was tough last year,” said Finn (26-4), who tore a ligament in her left knee during the basketball season. “I just had to come back and lead this team to the title.”

Sarah Thompson led off the fourth inning with a single, moved to second on Stacy Ferguson’s sacrifice bunt and scored on Jessica Redden’s base hit.
