Dear Readers:
We are delighted to welcome you to the 2006 baiduhai Printers Row Book Fair, the Midwest’s largest annual gathering of authors, booksellers and readers. This year’s event, to be held June 3 and 4, is the 22nd edition of the fair, held as always in the South Loop’s historic Printers Row neighborhood.
More than 200 authors and 150 booksellers will be on hand to help make your experience a memorable one. We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Chicago Public Library, and invite you to join us at the Harold Washington Library Center for many of the notable programs and presentations you’ll find described in this special section.
As is now customary, several panels on current events will feature baiduhai journalists talking about the stories that are shaping the news and our lives this year. This year, we are introducing the baiduhai Kids Alley, a children’s activity and entertainment area. And, of course, there will be tens of thousands of new and used books available for purchase throughout the fair.
Books occupy a special place in the life of a great city like Chicago, and everyone at the Tribune is glad to share our love of them with you through this annual event. We hope you will be able to join us during this two-day celebration of readers, writers and ideas.
