Erasure
“UNION STREET”
RATING: 3 SOUND LEVELS
On Erasure’s (right) new acoustic album, Andy Bell’s voice is displayed in all its glory, as all the electro-pop pioneers’ other bells and whistles are neatly tucked away. Though “Union Street” is Erasure’s re-imagining of its own previously released songs, it is filled with pleasant surprises. “Piano Song” becomes a country-tinged ballad while “Stay With Me” features enough woodwinds and muted percussion to turn it into an Irish folk song. Above it all sits Bell’s gorgeous voice.
