A day after the U.S. Olympic Committee changed its women’s figure skating lineup, another change might be in order. Call him Apolo Anton Uh-oh. Just don’t call him to ask about the 1,500 in short-track. The favorite coming in, Ohno went out in the semifinals Sunday capping a bad day for the U.S. that overshadowed dominant performances elsewhere. The bad news: The morning started with the end of Michelle Kwan’s Olympic career. The afternoon brought the men’s downhill, in which Bode Miller and Daron Rahlves spit the bit. And the day finished with Ohno’s miss at his first medal in Turin. The good news: Shaun White and Danny Kass went 1-2 in the snowboard halfpipe, and the U.S. women’s hockey team dominated Germany 5-0. The almost-great news was in men’s singles luge. But Tony Benshoof finished fourth, missing a medal but tying the Americans’ best ever. And it was a great day in the Hughes household: Emily is Turin-bound.
