The Illinois Department of Transportation has approved long-awaited street improvements to better manage traffic flow near the village’s post office on Cicero Avenue.
Village Board members this week approved spending $27,025 to cover the village’s share of the $409,400 project.
The improvements will include new traffic lights at the entrance near 207th Street as well as new through lanes, a median and new turning lanes.

Village Trustee Andre Ashmore said the intersection has become dangerous as traffic has increased because of development near the post office.
“This is something residents have really been looking forward to,” Ashmore said.
The project is scheduled to begin in the spring.
