Preliminary demolition work on Will County’s former Gangs and Warrants Building could start this month, one County Board member said.

Wayne McMillan (R-Bolingbrook) addressed the issue this week after the Joliet City Council’s unanimous approval of a planned-use development designation for the nearly 220,000-square-foot expansion of the county’s Adult Detention Facility.

McMillan, who heads the board’s Capital Improvements Committee, told City Council members “the first step” is tearing down the Gangs and Warrants Building.

McMillan expects the $50 million project to be completed by June 2007.
