Diamonds aren’t always a girl’s best friend.
In the new “flip” book “His/Hers: Simple Things To Do for the One You Love” (Adams Media, $7.95), husband and wife co-authors Nicole Murn Hayes and Justin Cord Hayes suggest inexpensive but creative ways to keep a relationship going.
The book itself is creatively presented: The “His” portion is 127 pages of charcoal-colored type; flip the book over to read the 127 pages of maroon “Hers” type. On the pages where the two portions meet are hearts that sport a “Now it’s your turn” directive.
For men, just paying her some attention is a start. “The more he does, the more she appreciates it and is going to do back,” says Nicole Hayes, 36, of High Point, N.C. The couple have been married eight years and have a 2-year-old son.
Tips for him (51 in all) include picking out an outfit for her and playing Mr. Fix It for an afternoon.
Among the 60 ideas for her to try are scribbling love notes to him with chalk on the sidewalk and setting up camp for two in the back yard.
No fair asking him to help, Nicole says.
