For police in DuPage County, a holiday tradition at children’s wards of local hospitals continues.
The DuPage County Police Association–which includes more than 500 officers from agencies around the county–is making its annual toy run this weekend.
On Friday, the officers were scheduled to travel to the children’s wards of Edward Hospital in Naperville, Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Elmhurst Hospital and Hinsdale Memorial Hospital.
The officers put a lot into it. Naperville Mayor George Pradel, a former police officer, plays the role of Santa Claus with his characteristic enthusiasm. An officer and a police dog also make the trip.
