Clerks at the burger chain have been hearing a lot of such strange orders since they started giving away plane tickets last month for customers who can collect dozens of drink cups.
Although the rules of the promotion–also sponsored by AirTran and Coke–prohibit such big-gulp purchases, even Wendy’s concedes it’s tough to police every clerk at every store.
Atlanta resident Mitch Reiner, 23, figures buying the Cokes is a quick and tasty way to save a lot of dough on the round-trip fare he needs to visit his girlfriend in New York around Christmas.
