Everything you need to know in order to get some is found in the prologue to “The Generous Man: How Helping Others Is the Sexiest Thing You Can Do” (Thunder’s Mouth Press, $25).

“This book investigates how characteristics such as generosity, creativity, cooperativeness, and cleverness derive from the instinctive pull of sex and love toward . . . the object of desire,” writes Tor Norretranders.

Good luck deciphering what the Danish science writer tries to say after that. Norretranders gasses on about almost everything except how being helpful and kind will lead to scoring.

He writes of something called homo generosus, as well as ultimatum games, game theory, the Nash equilibria, the Danish mini-series “The Kingdom,” Darwinism, natural selection, the Beatles, monkey penises–“The Generous Man” is all over the place, but it all comes off like psychobabble.

“The Generous Man” baits you with the possible keys to taking a woman to bed, and it switches up into a poor philosophy book. And because Norretranders had his words translated into English, it reads like a badly dubbed Danish movie.

Tell us something we don’t know: “Make an effort and you’ll make out.”
