Best New American Voices 2006
Guest editor Jane Smiley, series editors John Kulka and Natalie Danford
Harcourt, 306 pages, $14 paper
Jane Smiley selected 15 stories, after more than 400 were read by series editors John Kulka and Natalie Danford, and came up with this collection by writers on the cusp of their careers. These ambitious stories reflect the imaginations of a generation and are a sneak preview of coming attractions in fiction.
