Defending Class AA champion Mighty Macs (33-6) handed Redhawks first loss of season behind Kate Corbett’s 13 kills. “We were definitely ready,” said Corbett. “We’ve got one more win to get back to state and we’re going to fight the same way.” Senior outside Caitlin Strimel added 8 kills while setter Brittany Cermak had 25 assists for Mighty Macs, and Kim Richards had 5 kills. Junior middle Abby Nelson paced Marist with 11 kills while junior Megan Eskew added eight for Redhawks, who closed at 27-1.

Lauren Graham had 9 kills to lead Lincoln-Way East (26-13). Alyssa Pickert added 13 digs and Stephanie Galas had 7 blocks.

Kelly Murphy had 12 kills and 15 assists to lead Joliet Catholic (34-5). Samantha Quigley added 9 kills, 12 assists and 11 digs, and Kim Paprockas had 8 digs. “Aimee Kocik and Paprockas had excellent defensive games,” coach Christine Scheibe said.

Tara Hester had 17 kills–7 in 3rd game–and 4 digs to lead Naperville Central (35-4). Caitlin Staib added 7 kills, and Jessica Yanz had 28 assists and 12 digs. “It was such a battle, and I know it was the toughest match we’ve played this season,” Tara Hester. “We just had to let it go. We knew the second game was over and the third game was all that mattered. We were totally focused on the third game.” Kate Rodriguez had 16 kills and Michelle Kocher added 42 assists for defending Class A champion St. Francis (37-2).

Katie Eberling had 16, 10 digs and 2 blocks to lead Stagg (28-7). Kendall Maduzia added 14 kills and 7 digs, and Jaclyn Hart had 31 assists and 5 kills.
