I read the letter from Brother Kenneth Hoagland, but I’m still not convinced that the prom had to be canceled. Granted, I’m a junior in high school, so I’m going to have a bias toward keeping prom. But all of the evidence Hoagland listed in his letter is backed up by nothing. It’s just rhetoric. Although there are students who probably do arrive to prom half wasted, then drive off to some cabin for a two-day orgy, not every student does that. And it’s wrong to assume so.
Prom night is one of those nights that is supposed to live with you forever. Canceling it because of the notorious deeds of a few ruins it for everyone.
