Faced with a budget deficit, Mt. Prospect officials have proposed an ambulance fee for residents and direct billing for garbage collection.
The combined effort would bring in $1.9 million in new revenue in 2006, helping to erase the $1.1 million deficit, according to the proposed 2006 budget.
The plan would eliminate village vehicle stickers, which cost $36 or more a year depending on the type of vehicle. That program makes $1.1 million, records show.

The ambulance fee would create $783,000 in new revenue, records show. Residents would pay between $200 and $500, depending on the type of service, said Finance Director David Erb.
Direct billing for residential refuse collection would generate $2.2 million, records show. Residents would pay $211 a year for the program, which would include garbage bins on wheels. The proposed $80.3 million budget represents a 15.5 percent increase, or $10.8 million, over the 2005 budget.
Village trustees probably will approve the budget in December, Erb said.
