In her book “28 Days: What Your Cycle Reveals About Your Love Life, Moods and Potential” (Polka Dot Press), freelance health writer Gabrielle Lichterman explains how changing hormone levels affect everything from a woman’s memory to her taste in men.

The book acts as a daily horoscope–one that’s based on biology instead of astrology.

“By knowing how your hormones will affect you every day, you can maximize your strengths and minimize your weaknesses,” says Lichterman, 35, of New York.

An example from the book: Sex is most frequent on Day 8 of the menstrual cycle because of rising estrogen and testosterone levels.

Lichterman plans to write a book about how hormones influence men’s behavior. “Testosterone … peaks and dips five to seven times in a single day,” she says. “Talk about moody.”
