Back in March, when steroid whistleblower Jose Canseco received a $50,000 appearance fee as a celebrity cast member on VH1’s “The Surreal Life,” he pledged $10,000 to an L.A. battered women’s shelter featured on the show. The shelter has yet to collect on the promise. His attorney said the ex-slugger planned to make the donation until he was hit with a $1 million-plus civil jury judgment arising from a Miami bar fight. His assets have been frozen pending appeal.
