Northwestern hasn’t won consecutive Big Ten road games since 2000, but the Wildcats will try for two in a row Saturday at Michigan State. NU changed its routine for last week’s game at Purdue to more closely resemble a home game.

“We did a lot better at Purdue,” coach Randy Walker said. “We did a better job of taking Northwestern football on the road and being focused.”

The Wildcats won their first three conference road games in 2000, beginning league play with wins at Wisconsin and Michigan State on the way to a share of the Big Ten title. . . .
