Annie Hayden

“The Enemy of Love”

“The Enemy of Love” continues Hayden’s fascination with Fleetwood Mac-styled California pop, with piano as dominant as guitar on songs such as “Hip Hurray,” “Your Carnival” and the jazzy “Wait for Returns.” Unfortunately, Hayden’s little-girl voice is too thin to match the tumult of a Stevie Nicks or Christine McVie, but she continues to be an impressive songwriter.

Best track: “Starring in The Movies,” a pretty rumination on inspiration and the creative process.
