New meaning for senior bowl

The two oldest coaches in the NFL, Kansas City’s Dick Vermeil, 68, and Washington’s Joe Gibbs, 64, will meet for the first time since Nov. 28, 1982, when Gibbs’ Redskins defeated Vermeil’s Eagles 13-9. Vermeil left the game for 14 years while working as a broadcaster before resuming his coaching career in 1997 at St. Louis, where he led the Rams to a Super Bowl championship in 1999. Gibbs, a three-time Super Bowl champion at Washington, left the Redskins in 1993 and devoted his time to his NASCAR teams before he was lured back to the Redskins in 2004. Gibbs has a 3-1 lifetime advantage over Vermeil.
