When you think North Shore, porn shops are probably not the first image that comes to mind.
Apparently, they also weren’t high on the minds of officials in Glenview, where there isn’t a single sexually oriented business in town and no current provision under the zoning code that would allow for one.
After rejecting an application for a business license for an adult book and video store because it didn’t fit in any zoning districts, officials decided it was time to develop a plan for where such businesses could locate.
Not providing such a zoning district could leave the village open to a court challenge on constitutional issues, said Village Atty. Jeffrey Randall.
The Village Board on Thursday will consider recommendations to allow sexually oriented businesses in light industrial districts with various restrictions–like how close they can be to such places as schools.
That adult video bookstore may not be out of luck after all.
