Former Bears running back Merril Hoge, now an ESPN analyst, is on a nationwide tour to increase awareness for treatment of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Hoge, a survivor of one of the fastest-growing forms of cancer, has teamed with Muhsin Muhammad in promoting a Web site, WinningGamePlan.com, that outlines treatments and advice. “The main message is there is a lot of hope with this type of cancer,” Hoge said. “It’s not a death sentence. Listen to your body. Our bodies talk to us. They tell us we’re hungry, we’re tired, we feel great. Symptoms very common for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma are flulike symptoms. When you have things that linger, you can’t go the macho approach. You have to go to the doctor.”
