A week off hasn’t completely healed wide receiver Mark Philmore, who returned to practice Tuesday after coach Randy Walker banned him from team activities for a week for disciplinary reasons. He was held out of contact drills because of a sore ankle.
“I’ll be good to go,” he said. “I thought about a lot of things besides football, especially with school starting. I had a chance to get away from football and think about things I don’t usually do on Saturday.”
A poor practice last Tuesday took part of the blame for the 52-21 loss at Arizona State, but Tuesday’s workout was better, Walker said.
“It wasn’t a work of art, but as I told them, I wasn’t looking for perfection,” he said.
Freshmen defensive end Corey Wootton has recovered from a jammed neck that kept him out of the ASU game and will play Saturday. “We have to bang him around and get him going,” Walker said.
