Wide receiver Mark Philmore has been reinstated after missing the Arizona State game Saturday night for disciplinary reasons. Philmore, who led Northwestern with 54 catches last year and is ninth on the school’s all-time list with 113, was slowed by an ankle injury before his one-game absence, which coach Randy Walker termed a respite instead of a suspension.
“Basically, we haven’t had him because he was hurt early in the first game of the season,” Walker said. “He believes his ankle is better. But it’s probably not going to be 100 percent all year; it’ll be playable. I believe he’s ready to come back to the program and have a great conclusion to his senior year.”
Walker said the Wildcats had planned to run the ball more in Saturday’s 52-21 loss at Arizona State, but switched to passes because of the way Arizona State played defense.

“We actually called running plays that we ended up throwing the ball on,” Walker said.
