Leslie’s off-the-court courting

Former Air Force basketball player Michael Lockwood will become Mr. Lisa Leslie in November. “I had to call her two or three times just to get her to [go out],” he said. “Now that I’ve gotten to know her, I can tell you this: Her personality far overshadows anything she’s done on the court.” Lockwood, a pilot for United Parcel Service, stands 6 feet 6 inches and his bride-to-be is 6-5. The obvious question: Has he ever been tempted to challenge her to a little driveway one-on-one? “I’m a far smarter man than that,” Lockwood said. “They taught us a lot of things at the academy, including knowing when to say when. Am I going to play against her competitively? Absolutely not. That’s what chess boards are for.”
