News from the folks at IKEA, which is opening its second Chicagoland store in Bolingbrook, is coming in in dribs and drabs. The latest pour: Opening date now is set for Sept. 28. At 9 a.m. that day, Hansi Sporl, store manager, and Pernille Spiers-Lopez, president of IKEA North America, will saw a log and swing open the doors — the log thing being a Swedish good-luck custom, says IKEA spokesman Joseph Roth. Although opening-day festivities for the 310,000-square-foot store (at the Boughton Road exit of Interstate 355 ) are still being firmed up, Roth notes that “typical” openings include giveaways and drawings for gift cards.
