Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Celebrities hawking products is hardly a new development: It seems like every time we turn around, another star is lending Tinseltown glitter to clothes, cars and even denture cream. Sometimes, the matchups seem right on–Serena Williams shilling Nike tennis outfits. But other deals seem a bit bewildering, like what’s up with those Catherine Zeta-Jones ads for T-Mobile? We’re seeing a new batch of celeb endorsements. Do these new hookups make cents?

JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT

Selling: Hanes underwear

We buying? Depends. We’re not foolish enough to think that purchasing some Hanes will give us that I-have-my-personal-trainer-on-speed-dial figure, but then again, they are an affordable classic.

SHERYL CROW

Selling: Dell PCs and other home-entertainment goodies

We buying? We don’t really think of Crow when we think of computers, but she begs to differ. In a news release, she said: “Technology has helped me with the writing and recording processes, and it’s a great way to reach out to fans of my music.”

CARRIE UNDERWOOD

Selling: Skechers USA shoes

We buying? We’re definitely ready to give “Idol” Underwood a chance, especially if it means keeping the company’s last spokes-singer, Christina Aguilera, off the payroll. Those ads, featuring the bleached-blond singer dressed as a cop, almost made us swear off sneakers forever.

50 CENT

Selling: Glaceau Vitaminwater

We buying? Look at his chiseled abs. You bet.

NELLY

Selling: A signature line of Reebok gear, including shoes, clothes and accessories

We buying? Perhaps; hip-hop and sports have long made for a fun, playful union, and we’re interested in what fashion-forward Nelly will bring to the brand.

DANICA PATRICK

Selling: PEAK Antifreeze and Mr. Clean Premium Windshield Wash

We buying? Sure. Although Patrick’s yet to fully prove herself on the racetrack, there’s little doubt that “Danica Mania” will inspire many to open up their wallets.

BRITTANY MURPHY

Selling: Jordache jeans

We buying? Jordache jeans are not what they were in the 1980s, but as long as the pants’ legs don’t taper, we might try them on.
