The Oak Lawn Village Board Tuesday unanimously agreed to appoint Ed Folliard, an 18-year veteran of the department.

He replaces Tom Moran, who retired in February after 39 years with the department.
Village President David Heilmann said the board wanted to promote someone from within the department. Eight candidates were interviewed.
Heilmann said Folliard’s experience, energy and passion for the job, along with his skills as an arson investigator made him the top choice.
Folliard, 52, said as chief he hopes to reestablish the department’s fire prevention bureau, increase staffing levels and bring back the service of a fourth ambulance. He will be paid $99,732 a year.
