With the twitch of her nose (actually her upper lip), Elizabeth Montgomery made it seem so easy … like magic.
“She was charming,” said William Asher, who directed his then-wife Montgomery in the 1960s TV show “Bewitched.” “She was just terribly likable.”
And although most people now will identify Nicole Kidman as the witch Samantha, thanks to the big-screen remake, Montgomery cast a spell that made the show one of ABC’s biggest hits, running for eight seasons. Fans still can see Montgomery as Samantha; last week Sony Pictures released the first season of the show on DVD and reruns of the show air on TV Land and other channels.
