A 24-year-old man was chased away from his girlfriend’s house on June 2 by the woman’s stepfather, who carried a 34-inch aluminum baseball bat, a report said.
The victim arrived at his girlfriend’s house on the 5000 block of North Lotus Avenue when the woman’s father came out and chased after him. The stepfather threw the bat at the victim, but missed.
Police later arrested the stepfather, who told them he does not like the victim, the report said.
RUDE AWAKENING: More than 20 bus passes and $20 were taken from a 44-year-old man who fell asleep on a CTA Blue Line train June 12, a report said. The victim woke up to find that his pant pocket had been cut open.
BACK-YARD BLUNDER: A lawn mower was taken from the back yard of a 43-year-old man who was doing some landscaping in his front yard on June 7, a report said.
The victim was gardening at his home on the 7000 block of North Osceola Avenue and walked into his back yard to find the mower missing. His neighbor told police that she saw two men place the mower in a truck.
PATRIOT GAMES: An American flag and a Norwegian flag were taken from a 47-year-old man’s home on June 8, a report said.
The victim, who lives on the 7000 block of West Berwyn Avenue, discovered the flags missing from a flagpole in his front yard. Police reviewed tapes from a nearby surveillance camera that showed two people removing the flags.
UNINVITED HOUSEGUEST: A 33-year-old man was threatened at knifepoint Tuesday when he found a strange man lying on his front lawn, a report said.
The victim returned to his home on the 5000 block of West Dakin Street and noticed the offender on his grass. When the victim approached the offender to check on his health, the offender jumped up and threatened him. The victim was able to stall the offender until police arrived, the report said.
GIRL ATTACKED: A 14-year-old girl was punched and thrown against a light pole on June 6 when two offenders took her money, a report said.
The victim was walking on the 5000 block of West Irving Park Road when the offenders approached her from behind and grabbed her by the neck. They demanded her money, and one offender reached into her pocket and took $150. The victim tried to grab the offender’s arm, but the other offender punched her in the stomach and threw her against the light post. Then both offenders fled the scene.
BAD CONVERSATION: A 15-year-old girl’s purse was stolen on the 5000 block of West Berteau Avenue on June 10, a report said.
The victim was sitting outside with her friend when a group of three offenders approached them and struck up a conversation. While they spoke, one of the offenders grabbed the victim’s purse from her right shoulder. The offenders ran to a vehicle and drove off.
