Not that long ago in a suburb not so far away, a “Star Wars” fan named his first-born son Anakin–a la Anakin Skywalker, a central character in “Star Wars: Episode III–Revenge of the Sith,” which opened this weekend.
Lucy Van Slyke, 34, of Aurora, acquiesced to her husband’s wishes during a moment of weakness four years ago.
Her husband, Mark, 35, a 2nd-grade teacher, once watched the original “Star Wars” trilogy every week for a year, Lucy said.
The name has caused some problems. Because they call their son “Ani,” people often mistook him for a girl when he was younger.
Fast forward to two years ago, when the Van Slykes had another little boy.
Mark wanted a whole galaxy of kids named for “Star Wars” characters, but Lucy zapped that notion, she said.
They went with Henry.
