Shaquille O’Neal responded Thursday in Miami to comments made the day before by Lakers owner Jerry Buss, who said, “The motivation for him to lose [60 pounds] was to trade him.” But the Heat’s center said after a light workout limited by deep thigh bruises to each leg: “I don’t need motivation, I need a real owner. I need an owner who doesn’t party with girls three times [younger]. I need a real owner like [Miami’s general partner] Micky Arison, who hangs out with 60-year-olds and not 20-year-olds.” Buss also said: “I suspect if I knew he was going to lose 60 pounds, I might have made a different decision [on trading him]. Actually, I cheer for Shaq. I really like Shaq. I suspect he doesn’t like me that much.”
