Surely most of us have heard of an apparently medical condition known as premature ejaculation, but few of us outside the medical realm probably realize that one of the ways of measuring this is by stopwatch.

Maybe the foggy portion of the science is who exactly decides what is premature. For the sake of a study appearing in the May issue of the Journal of Sexual Medicine, it was decided that in a four-week study of 1,587 men, the time of 1.8 minutes of engagement was premature. That was the average for men deemed to be suffering this scourge. Among the “normal” men, the average was 7.3 minutes.

The ticking, of course, might be skewing the results.
