Ground will soon be broken for a 70,000-square foot police building with an estimated $12 million price tag, officials said.
The Village Board this week approved the final contract with Mt. Prospect-based A.J. Maggio Co., at a cost of $10,622,536.
The building, to be located at 143rd Street and Coil Plus Drive, was originally estimated to cost $8,879,000.
But in March the board approved the addition of a courtroom and adjacent parking, offices for Plainfield Emergency Management Agency and additional offices on the first and second floor.
The building is expected to open in mid-2006.
