The Village Board on Tuesday approved plans for a new Staples office supply store and other retail development in the 9600 block of South Cicero Avenue.
The 20,000-square-foot store will be the anchor of a new development that includes a 6,000-square-foot commercial building and another 7,000 square feet of retail space adjacent to the new Staples, which will be built next to a Sports Authority store.
“This is a positive development in an area where we have had vacancies,” said Trustee Steve Rosenbaum, who represents the area where the new stores will be built.
The developers requested a parking variation for slightly shorter parking spaces than required by the village. Trustee Robert Streit voted against the variation.
