You’ve got clothes that make you look good and clothes that make you feel good. But the latest thing in apparel is clothes that do something.

Your tie can fight spills. Your shirts repel stains. Your suits will ward off wrinkles. Your pants laugh in the face of shrinking or fading.

For moms with small kids to busy business-folk rushing to coffee-and-doughnut conferences, companies such as Haggar and Nanotex have added new technology to everyday clothes to make them stylishly superherolike.

Eddie Bauer was the first clothing company to take advantage of the Nanotex-enhanced materials. Since then, retailers such as Old Navy, Brooks Brothers, Nike, Nordstrom, Tommy Hilfiger and Gap have followed suit.

A chemical treatment causes liquids to bead up and roll off the clothes, without ever reaching the actual fabric. And although the resistance technology isn’t really new, Nanotex has manipulated the chemicals to such a degree that adding the protection doesn’t affect the look and feel of the clothes.

Meanwhile, Haggar Clothing Co. has introduced a line of performance clothing called ForeverNew. The collection of men’s casual and dress pants, as well as knit and woven shirts, won’t fade, shrink, wrinkle or stain.
