There will be a new rotation at Wrigley Field this season and we’re not talking about Ryan Dempster replacing Matt Clement.
Levy Brothers has taken over the entire food operation for the Cubs this season, from the Stadium Club and sky boxes to the concession stands.
While the general public won’t be able to sample new items like the lobster cobb salad, popcorn chicken or the beef and blue cheese wraps in the renovated Stadium Club, there is a new lineup to consider when ordering in the Wrigley concourse. You might want to put one of these in your concession stand rotation:
1. PEPPERONI CALZONE, $3.25
Pepperoni, cheese and tomato sauce stuffed inside a soft, yet chewy dough. Much less messy than its sliced cousin.
2. PORKCHOP SANDWICH, $3.75
Caramelized onions give this Midwest favorite a new twist. The chop is grilled and put inside a major league bun–with barbecue sauce for those who want a little more kick.
3. PHILLY CHEESE STEAK, $5.50
This is the Wrigley version. Beef, cheese, peppers inside a great bun. No Cheez Whiz here. Real cheese.
4. PHILLY CHEESE CHICKEN, $5.50
A variation on an all-time great. The grilled chicken is tender and a nice change of pace from the beef.
5. ITALIAN BEEF OR SAUSAGE, $5.50 for beef, $4.50 for sausage
The gravy doesn’t overwhelm either item and a substantial roll won’t disintegrate when a little soggy. Peppers? Of course.
