Although it hasn’t exactly set the Nielsens afire in the past couple of years, Fox’s “Malcolm in the Middle” will return for a seventh season in 2005-06, the network announced.

“We couldn’t be prouder and happier to have one more year to annoy people,” said “Malcolm” creator Linwood Boomer.

Like a lot of comedies, “Malcolm” has struggled in ratings this season. The show draws only about 5.8 million viewers per week, down significantly from the 8 million-plus viewers it averaged last season.
