Dee Brown and Luther Head are the first Illinois players to be recognized nationally for their contributions to the top-ranked Illini’s record-setting season.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association named Brown first-team All-American and selected Head for its second team.

Brown, also the Big Ten Player of the Year, averages 14.2 points and leads the Big Ten in three-point field-goal percentage (48.2). Head, also a first-team All-Big Ten selection, averages 16.1 points and leads the conference with 85 three-pointers.

Wake Forest’s Chris Paul, Duke’s J.J. Redick, Kansas’ Wayne Simien and Utah’s Andrew Bogut joined Brown on the first team.
