The 1912 English Colonial country house by the renowned architect Howard Van Doren Shaw on 2 acres in east Lake Forest was an early project undertaken by Shaw before his design of Lake Forest’s historic Market Square.
Highlights: The showhouse, always one of the best-done of the season, will feature 30 rooms.
Dates: Preview April 29. Open to the public April 30 to May 22.
Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

The 2005 Designer Showcase Home & Garden in Rockford is a Painted Lady built in 1896 with a commanding view of Rock River. The showcase is a fundraiser for the Junior League of Rockford’s community projects.
Highlights: Features the work of 19 mostly local interior designers and six landscape artists.
