Tom Cavanagh, who played “Ed” for four seasons on NBC, is moving to CBS to be its “Love Monkey.” The pilot, based on a novel of the same name by Kyle Smith, follows four buddies who are in varying stages of dating and marriage. The story is seen through the eyes of Cavanagh’s character, a single record-company executive.
– Reiko Aylesworth of “24” is joining the CBS pilot “3 Lbs.,” a medical drama in which she will play a brain surgeon. Aylesworth is set to reprise her role as CTU agent Michelle Dessler on “24” later this season.
– Lisa Gay Hamilton, who played Rebecca Washington on “The Practice,” will play another lawyer in the CBS courtroom drama “Conviction,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. The pilot focuses on a former defense attorney now working as a prosecutor.
– Fox has ordered a half-hour project from “Sex and the City” creator Darren Star based on chef Anthony Bourdain’s “Kitchen Confidential,” his memoir about food, drugs and working in the kitchens of top restaurants.
