It’s all but certain that “Two and a Half Men” will take over for “Everybody Loves Raymond” as the Monday-night anchor for CBS next season. Just what the network will pair with it, though, is an open question. With an eye toward finding the answer, CBS has ordered four more comedy pilots for its development slate, the Hollywood trade papers report:
– An untitled show from Rich Appel (“King of the Hill”) follows the intertwined lives of two divorcing couples, one of which is having a far easier time with the split than the other.
– “Old Christine,” another divorce-themed comedy, comes from “Will & Grace” writer and executive producer Kari Lizer. The pilot centers around a 35-year-old, newly divorced mom dealing with her ex and the other parents at her son’s school.
– “Everything I Know About Men,” an adaptation of a BBC comedy about a single woman and the men in her life.
– “How I Met Your Mother,” which centers on a middle-aged man who reflects on his dating exploits of 20 years ago.
Meanwhile, Peri Gilpin, best known for her long run as Roz on NBC’s “Frasier,” has signed on to co-star opposite Larry Miller in the comedy pilot “Uncommon Sense.” It focuses on a newspaper columnist named Larry and his wife, played by Gilpin. NBC, which is helping foot the bill for the pilot, gets the first look at “Uncommon Sense.”
Also at NBC, Lake Bell, who co-starred on ABC’s “Boston Legal” earlier this season, has taken the female lead in drama pilot “Fathom,” a sci fi-tinged show about mysterious creatures–which turn out to be aliens–living under the ocean. She’ll play a marine biologist who discovers the creatures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
At ABC, Matthew Davis (“Legally Blonde”) has joined the drama pilot “What About Brian?,” about a single guy in his 30s whose friends all are married. Davis, whose credits also include “Blue Crush” and “Seeing Other People,” will play one of the title character’s friends.
