player ready...Danny Almonte, who rose to fame then infamy at the 2001 Little League World Series when it was discovered he was overage, is leaving the Bronx and is headed for South Florida. Almonte, now a 17-year-old junior according to published reports in New York, is expected to enroll at Hialeah American High by the end of the week. Wednesday’s New York Post reported that Almonte’s father, who lives in the Dominican Republic, pulled his son from perennial New York power Monroe High School this week to allow Almonte to work out at major-league camps under the tutelage of family friend Orlando Cepeda, with the hopes the hard-throwing left-hander will be drafted in June.
