“With life experience, you have a wealth of things to draw on. The average adult has so much more at their disposal than they realize.”

–Terry Kozlowski, president of Achievementor Group (www.achievementorgroup.com), encourages people who aren’t happy with what they’re doing in life to be willing to make changes.

The Chicago career mentor suggests that those who are dissatisfied with life look at where they are and where they want to go; identify their resources, which include the things they’re good at and interested in; and evaluate their options.

“People think there is one path, one answer, but there are many,” she said.

The main barrier to change, Kozlowski said, is that “people think they’re trapped. They think, `I’ve gone to school for this, I’ve got to do it.’ They think, `I’ve spent all that money on school. . . . ‘ But they don’t realize that the things that made them successful in getting through school and at their jobs have also equipped them to do something else.”

And newfound happiness doesn’t always call for a life overhaul.

“Sometimes tweaks can make all the difference in the world,” Kozlowski said.

Kozlowski and other experts in everything from transition coaching to organic products will be speaking at the Women’s Resource Fair Friday and Saturday at the New Hotel Orrington in Evanston. For more info, go to www.womensresourcefair.org or call 847-328-8775.
