1. 1914 World Series

Boston’s “Miracle” Braves, a last-place team in July, finished 68-19 to win the NL pennant, then swept the defending champion Philadelphia Athletics for the world championship. Ex-Cub Johnny Evers batted .438 in the Series for Boston.

2. 1915 World Series

Boston Red Sox beat the Philadelphia Phillies four games to one, playing their home Series games in the new Braves Field because it had a larger capacity than Fenway Park. A year earlier, the Braves had played their home Series games at Fenway for similar reasons. Pitcher Rube Foster won two games for Boston.

3. 1974 Stanley Cup

The Philadelphia Flyers, keyed by the outstanding goaltending of Bernie Parent, beat the Boston Bruins four games to two to become the first NHL expansion team to win the Stanley Cup. The Flyers won Game 6 1-0, marking the last hurrah for the Bobby Orr-Phil Esposito Bruins.

4. Northeast Corridor rivals

The Eagles-Patriots Super Bowl is the fifth to be played between teams from the Northeast Corridor. The others:

1969: The New York Jets beat the Baltimore Colts 16-7.

1991: The New York Giants beat the Buffalo Bills 20-19.

1992: The Washington Redskins beat the Bills 37-24.

2001: The Baltimore Ravens beat the Giants 34-7.
