The Aptakisic-Tripp Education Association and the Board of Education have ratified a three-year contract for teachers and other staffers at Buffalo Grove-based School District 102.
The agreement covers all 176 full- and part-time certified teachers and the district’s custodial and maintenance staff.
The contract, which begins in August, provides salary increases of just under 6 percent for the first year, about 3 percent for the second year and about 3.5 percent for the third year, said Charles Cohen, assistant superintendent for business services.
“The reason we were able to offer a larger percent in this first year is because the teachers agreed to take a larger deductible in health insurance, and … our premium projection was reduced and that enabled us to use the extra money to put into salaries rather than medical benefits,” Cohen said.
