Being called on for the game-winning shot is nothing new for Fenwick’s Brittanny Johnson.
With the score tied 55-55 and five seconds to play Wednesday, the Friars guard drove the lane and put up a wobbly, but on-target, shot to lift top-ranked Fenwick to a 57-55 victory over No. 13 Bartlett in a Dundee-Crown tournament semifinal.

“They played good defense and they stripped the ball, but I (quickly) found it again and just put it up,” Johnson said.
Bartlett standout Lindsay Schrader (17 points) took the inbounds pass with 2.6 seconds left and tried to launch a potential game-winning shot about 8 feet outside the three-point arc. She was hit as she shot, but no foul was called.
Bartlett (10-3) led well into the third quarter before Samantha Woods (15 points) hit a bank shot to give Fenwick (16-0) its first lead at 41-40. Bartlett’s Morgan Aycox banked home an inbounds feed from Kaci Baird to force a 55-55 tie with 20 seconds left.
In the other semifinal, Resurrection freshman Deanna Ortiz hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer against No. 6 New Trier to force overtime with a 49-49 tie. The No. 18 Bandits (14-2) then hit 8 of 10 free throws in the extra session for a 62-61 victory.
Kristi Cirone paced Resurrection with 23 points, including the 2,000th of her career. Deirdre Naughton had a game-high 27 points for New Trier (11-3).
At Lisle: Taylor Bennett scored 18 points and Jennifer Juergens added 12 points and nine rebounds as No. 8 Bishop McNamara (12-1) posted a 53-39 semifinal victory over Timothy Christian. . . . Lindsay Bava scored 19 off the bench for Montini (11-4), which overcame an early 11-0 deficit by holding Illiana Christian to 17 second-half points in a 62-49 win.
At Trinity: Britney Jones scored 19 points, and Marshall used a 13-0 fourth-quarter run to rally for a 48-44 win over No. 14 Trinity in the title game. Joanna Ortiz scored 13 points for the Commandos (11-5). Tonesha Members had 13 points for Trinity (12-7).
At St. Viator: Taylor Lawless scored 13 of her 19 points in the first half as No. 15 Wheeling (14-0) rolled to a 66-31 win over St. Scholastica.
At St. Ignatius: Tournament MVP Elizabeth Pietrzak had 25 points and seven rebounds, and Katie O’Donoghue hit two free throws with seven seconds left to cap No. 20 St. Ignatius’ 57-56 win over Crane. The Wolfpack (13-5) won the tournament with a 5-0 record. Lanikia Lawrence scored 24 points through three quarters for Crane (9-4) but was limited in the fourth by a hamstring injury.

At Rich South: Joevon Catron’s 26 points and 12 rebounds led No. 2 Thornton to an 87-64 semifinal victory over Lincoln Park. Brandon Long and Brandon Dagans each scored 15 for the Wildcats (13-0). . . . Jeffrey Wilson scored 18 as No. 10 Hales Franciscan rallied for a 64-62 win over Bloom. Nate Minnoy scored 12 points for the Spartans (11-3) but was ejected in the third after he was assessed his second technical foul for running into the stands to confront a fan. Minnoy was arrested and led away in handcuffs after the game.
At Centralia: Andre Taylor posted 30 points and 10 rebounds, and Cahokia handed No. 6 Marist its first loss, 67-54. Mitchell Bouie scored 15 points for the Redhawks (9-1).
At Pekin: Joe Ballard had 13 points and six rebounds and DeAndre Thomas scored 11 points to lead No. 9 Westinghouse (8-2) to a 56-33 title-game win over host Pekin.
At Kankakee: Lawrence Lockwood and Darion Anderson scored 15 and 13 points, respectively, as Carver (10-3) held Bradley to single digits in all four quarters of a 45-27 win in the Class AA title game. . . . Jeff Weathersby posted 24 points for St. Anne (10-3), which ended the Class A title game on a 12-0 run and beat Herscher 60-46.
At Lemont: Brandon Smith scored five of his 25 points in a 1-minute-47-second span of the fourth quarter, breaking a 74-74 tie and leading Plainfield Central to an 85-77 win over Romeoville (8-2) in the large-school title game. Kyle Jackson scored 22 for the Wildcats (9-2). But Kierre Miller scored 13 of his 21 in the third as Romeoville fought back to take a 68-67. . . . Jeff Robinson tallied 35 points and Trey Triplett had 18 points and 18 rebounds as Lisle (10-2) used a 20-4, third-quarter burst to beat Orr 78-66 for the small-school title.
At Luther North: Michael Winters collected 16 points, six rebounds and five assists to lead eight-time tournament champion Zion-Benton (13-0) to a 53-42 semifinal win over Mather. . . . In the other semifinal, Jeff Miller scored 19 points as Stagg (10-2) beat Luther North 62-45.
At Northside Prep: Ben Hanessian’s layup with nine seconds left in regulation tied the score 59-59, and John Handrup scored 11 of his 14 points in overtime to lead University High to an 83-75 win over Northside Prep in the title game. John Kinsella scored 36 points for the Maroons (8-5) . Rob Eschmann poured in 46 points for Northside Prep (10-1).
