Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

We’re headed into another frigid winter. Which means we’re headed into a winter of frightening heating bills. So how to combat the cold and keep the bills reasonable? Instead of piling on six sweaters, consider these tips from home-improvement expert Lou Manfredini:

– Check that all seals around exterior doors are airtight. Apply weather-stripping, if need be.

– Purchase a window-insulation kit or install a clear sealant that peels off after winter.

– Inspect switch plates and outlets for drafts by removing covers. Insulate, if needed.

– Use a programmable thermostat with automatic temperature adjustment.

– Open the blinds or curtains during the day to allow the sun to warm the room.
