Following Massive Attack’s listless last record “100th Window,” the dwindling Bristol collective’s decision to record a soundtrack seems disappointing. Indeed, the project by necessity embraces fragments over fuller compositions, coming off like an incomplete collection of workshop experiments. Better is the latest in the “DJ Kicks” series by Massive Attack’s Daddy G. The set compiles several amazing Massive Attack-approved tracks for a non-stop mix that ranges from reggae to rap to a few Massive Attack remixes, making for a great laidback listen.
